These programs are not on our general calendar. They are available first to homeschooled students and families. All activities require registration. Online registration is available now for events this spring. Call Library Director Kara Blue at 862-3452 with questions.

How the Library is Organized

Hear librarian, Kara Blue, describe how the library is organized, including where books and media are shelved in the library, how spine labels can help you locate items, how to access and search our library catalog, how the library can help you locate and order books we don’t own, and some other tips on using our library.

Notable New Books

An overview of new or noteworthy books for school-aged readers.

March 8, 2:00-4:30 pm
Lego Mindstorms I

March 10, 9:30am-noon
Lego Mindstorms II

Class size limited to five (or 10, in pairs). In Part I, build one of several kinds of Lego robots. In Part II, computer-program your Lego robot to move, spin, and speak. Suggested age: 8 and older (or 5-7 with parent help).

April 3, 4:00-5:00 pm
Music Appreciation: Blues/Rock 'n Roll

Mrs. Rachel Day, the Albany School District music teacher, is our guest teacher for this first session of Music Appreciation. 

May 1, 4:00-5:00 pm
Music Appreciation: Contemporary

Mrs. Rachel Day returns to teach about contemporary music and musicians.

May 31, 3:00-4:00 pm
Book Spine Poetry

Interact with the library collection during this fun activity selecting books off the shelves and using the words on their spines to create unique poems.

Summer months…

Attend Summer Reading programs and activities for all ages for the entire community.

September

Pick up a copy of Rascal by Sterling North and read it together as a family.

October

Field trip to Sterling North’s boyhood Home and Museum, Edgerton, WI, followed by a pizza dinner. Museum open Sundays. Will need drivers & volunteers. Details tbd.
